Renewing the timbers in detail.

The next big thing that I hope to do is get the window frame back in so I thought that I would get the last of the supporting timbers in to leave me a clean run at it on Friday. I can take my time and do things in detail. It is the way that I think it should be done, but if someone e-mails me and tells me a better/proper way to do this then I will post that here too.

All the loose wood etc has been cleared away to give the bonding agent the best chance of getting a good hold. The area is ready to start work.

Panel ready for new timber

Apply the sealant/bonding agent (Sikaflex 512 here) around the area where you are placing the timber.

Sealant in place

Use an old knife to spread it and give total coverage.

Spreading the sealant

Slip the new timber in and hold it in place with some clamps.Timber clamped in place

Lower piece gets the same treatment.

Sealant in panel edge

Timber about to be placed

Whole job clamped up and left to bond.

Clamps on and finished

Nothing left to do but to wrap the van up again and go to work. Weather promises to be good this weekend again so I hope to get a good run at the job. Window frame needs to be made whole again. Then I can start to replace the aluminium and finally the window. After that I have the two side windows to pop out and reseal (at least one of these needs an new section of timber)
